Abstract:
The mechanical parameters of maize piles are the basis for silo safety design. A fully automatic triaxial instrument was used to study the effects of moisture content and confining pressure on the mechanical parameters of maize piles to obtain the stress-strain curve of maize piles. Using the Moer-Coulomb strength criterion, the internal friction angle
φ, cohesion
c, and the initial elastic modulus of maize piles were obtained. The results showed that the stress-strain curves of maize piles with different moisture contents were similar. As the moisture content increased, both the intensity peak and the internal friction angle increased, while the initial elastic modulus of maize piles decreased. According to the test results, the relationship equation between confining pressure and the initial elastic modulus under different moisture contents was fitted.
