NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF WAREHOUSE SIZE EFFECT ON THE STRESS FIELD OF BULK WHEAT UNDER LARGE PILE HEIGHT

Abstract
Influence of warehouse size on the stress field of bulk wheat with pile height equal to 8 m,was numerically simulated employing commercial code FLAC3D.Given a fixed warehouse size,variation of the bottom pressure distribution with different heap height was firstly analyzed.The relationship between the grain heap depth and the side pressure,the bottom pressure and the friction force at different position of the grain heap was also studied when the pile height was 8 m.Then,the influence of warehouse size on the side pressure,the bottom pressure and the friction force of the grain heap was comparatively analyzed with 8 m pile height under three warehouse sizes.The results showed that the inhomogeneity of the bottom pressure increased with increasing grain height.When the warehouse size increased,the side pressure of the grain piles and the warehouse wall friction increased correspondingly when the pile height was 8 m.There was a certain influence range in the wall friction's impact on the grain stress.The farther away from the warehouse wall,the less the wall friction.The relevant research results in this paper could provide reference for the structural design of large warehouse,as well as corresponding studies.
